Where is a good place in North Dakota? for people who are in there later 40;s and early 50;s?

We will be going in sometime in September after Labor day weekend. Kids will be in school and hopefully the prices for hotel;s will be down for vacationers|||I;d personally recommend Minot, Bismarck or Fargo. Minot has a nice small town feel to it while not being too small town to not have anything to do. Bismarck definitely has the city feel going for it and generally has the most to do. Fargo tends to be a nice mix between the two.Just be aware that it could potentially be very cold already up there in September, so make sure to bring warm clothes just in case.|||Make sure you make reservations well ahead of time. We;ve had a HUGE spillover from the active oil industry in the northwestern part of the state. Workers there don;t have enough housing by a long shot, so they fill up the hotels, and people who would normally be going there for temporary business or pleasure can;t get in last minute... so they go south and east... which fills up the hotels... and moves others further south and east. During the week (Monday thru Thursday nights) is the worst, weekends are better depending on special activities or events.Construction, railroad, and business people have been hard-pressed to find regular accommodations this summer. At various times even Minot and Devils Lake have been full one to two nights a week. So do plan ahead. But don;t let it stop you. Just make reservations at least a week ahead of time.
